Show time for Hawaii
April 26, 1906 is believed to be the day when Hawaii witnessed the First Motion Picture ever in history of Hawaii. However there is a conflict over this data, as many people refer to the seven brief scenes screened by Edison's Veriscope as the First Motion Picure which was shown in 1897 in Hawaii.
But definitely, it is clear from history and timeline of Hawaii that the first movie theater - Joel C. Cohem's Orpheum opened on the Fort Street on this day. So Hawaii...its SHOW TIME!!

Abusive Relationships!
It feels great when you start dating someone. With the passage of time, the growth of intimacy results in turning of a dating relationship into a serious relationship or affair. But it is essential to find out if your relationship is floating in the proper direction or not.
Always keep this in mind - you have every right to say no. No boyfriend or girlfriend has the right to tell or what you can or should do, what you can or should wear, or what kind of friends you should have.
Try to figure out the early signs if your current relationship is going to turn out as a violent one or not. If your boyfriend seems to be too pushy for meeting frequently in spite of problems that you may be facing then you must learn to say a NO sometimes. Does your girlfriend try to dominate you or influence your decisions in her favor? If so, this is high time to make a choice - either to turn her down for this time or to turn your self-esteem down forever. If your boyfriend or girlfriend verbally or emotionally abuses you by doing such things as yelling at you, swearing at you, manipulating you, spreading false and degrading rumors about you, and trying to make you feel guilty, give yourself another chance and wait for the right partner to come to your life. We do believe that God has created someone for each one of us. So don't rush into a relationship. Give yourself some time. Your boyfriend or girlfriend may drink too much or use drugs and then later blame the alcohol and drugs for his/her behavior. Your boyfriend or girlfriend may also threaten physical violence.
In such cases, no one becomes happy. Let go! When a relationship becomes only a responsibility, it is technically finished!! Give it a thought...

Srutinatok says, "I'm Alive"
Srutinatok (audio drama / audio acting) has been an essential part of the cultural movement of India (more specifically West Bengal). The land of Rabindranath Tagore and Kazi Nazrul Islam has inspired and given birth to uncountable lovers of drama. However, with the rise of the audio-visual acting, audio drama practices have decreased to such a level, that most of the people are unaware of this beautiful and evenly difficult form of acting.
So its time to revive the wonder with a new look. Several groups have emerged with wonderful scripts. We believe the world must be the spectator of the most difficult, yet fascinating form of drama called "Srutinatok".
Kolkata being the center of practicing the art, has managed to gain several spectators and listeners, however, 70% of the crowd is not clear with the concept of Srutinatok.
A friend of mine still believes, audio drama is something where the effects of rain are still created with a crushing plastic. Well, grow up! Introduction of technical equipments have contributed to better sound production. Use of laptops for live mode background scores rather than using cassettes and recorders which produce clicks and pops; use of stage vocal monitors for the actors have simplified microphone handling. People are on their way to present better live productions with more balanced sounds. We do miss the wonderful voice of Shri Late Gautam Chakraborty, but new artists are no less promising.
Tomorrow we have this event called, "Nabobarsher Boithak Srutir Aanginaaye" to be held at the Jivanananda Sabhaghar for 2 days (23.4.11 & 24.3.11) 6pm onwards.

INDIA DREAMS...
India is celebrating its victory in World Cup 2011. After achieving 7.2% overall economic growth rate, and after the recovery from global economic meltdown, being the best Cricket Team in the world, without any doubt, made India more shining.
India is shining indeed. But beneath glittering first layer, behind this bright smiling face an ugly cavity has been formed, what could turn into a cancer and devastate the upcoming glorious future.
Now just think, when you were watching the final match with your family, who were serving the popcorn and cold drinks? Or when you were celebrating by bursting crackers have you thought who made those crackers?
If the pop corns you have eaten has been served by a 13 years old maid servant Vinita, or the rocket you have bought from market has made by a 10 years old boy Kabir, what do you think the possibility of our country?
Nearly 20 million children (age of below 14) are engaged in various laborious jobs through out the country, but some NGOs claim that the number is as high as 50 million. India has been placed second in the world for using children in various hazardous works, right after Africa. From 1979, a number of measure has been taken by the Government of India, what includes the Recent amendment of Right to Education Bill (RTE).the masseurs like providing midday mill have helped to decrease the number of school drop-out rate, but its not effectively large.
These measures have failed to create an overall awareness. Even a student of 10th standard preparing for Board Exam is familiar with these Numbers. But, that's it! These statistics never touched our conscience.
Bitter to read and hard to accept, but its us people, who help or encourage in someway or other to steal these childhoods. The girl who has served you pop corn and cold drinks during the cricket match, could have had a proper education and thus a better life. If you would’nt have hired him, the little boy who is working as a labor to built your house could have played with his schoolmates, on the school ground. But again, those statistics never come to our mind while hiring them.
The most common excuse for giving employment to these little children is fight poverty and giving them financial support. In one way that approach is correct. When you give a job to a child, that dose help his or her family. But try to think the entire thing in another way, if this process is being stopped by us, those children wouldn't have an option but to go to school by taking financial help from the government.but then another question comes to our mind, if i do not give him the job some one else will do, then what? and that's way the entire cycle begun.and to stop a cycle you must take a point, any random point.

Ammonia Makes Us Enjoy A Smoke!!
Every cigarette box displays a caution statement - "Smoking is injurious to health". But we still continue smoking. Are we literate illiterates?
The answer lies back in the heads of the organic chemists of the tobacco industries, who understood that a person feels better if nicotine reaches the brain faster. Thus the chemists felt the need of adding some chemicals to the cigarette to make the nicotine travel faster to the brain.
The cigarette manufacturers started adding ammonia to the filters of the cigarettes, as filters with ammonia help the nicotine to reach the brain faster. Most of the chain smokers need a smoke early in the morning. This is because, when we are asleep, a nicotine crisis occurs in the brain. With the first puff of the day, the ammonia pushes a large amount of nicotine to the brain within 7 seconds. This is like soaking up of even a full glass of water when you are very thirsty.
This is one of the biggest reasons for the overall increase of cigarette addiction all over the world.
So friends, even if we are aware of the consequences of cigarette smoking, we do not quit! But here's the secret, that the tobacco industries tie us up with. It is indeed possible to quit smoking. Its high time to stop Ammonia Consumption!!

Guests of Homeland!!
Hey friends, here's something I would like to share. I was speaking to one of my Mizo friends. She seemed very upset and annoyed with few things that she had encountered last evening. She wants to get back home and leave the city. When I investigated, I found out a shameful truth! How would you like if you are treated as a guest in your own country?
People from Mizoram and other hilly areas of India often go to other cities like Kolkata and Delhi for higher education. But most of these people are let down by our behavior and attitude towards them. Their Mongolian faces often make us refer them as Chinese, thereby uttering a much popular word (in Kolkata) - "chinki". I don't know what does this mean. But whatever it may be, this is absolute crap!
People from other states expect cooperation from us. But what do we give them in return - hiked room rents? or misbehaviors? Well guys, I have three colleges nearby, and I have seen a lot of students getting annoyed to be referred to as foreigners, thereby misguided!! They buy vegetables at 20 rupees kilo while we buy the same at 14 rupees kilo! We rent a room for 3000 bucks while they are made to do it at a double amount. Put yourself in their shoes and imagine yourselves to be lost in a new city! Now if you are turned down by the people who were supposed to be your only hope, how would you feel?
We need to stop building this wall based on linguistic and regional difference! Come together and act like true citizens!! Remember the pledges we read back at schools. Its time to act seriously!
If you are a student or job seeker, new to a city & you are facing problems, Mail us at: digisys7@gmail.com.

'Rongaali' in 3 days!
Bihu is the main festival of Assam, one of the most beautiful states of India, known for its tea gardens, lush green forests and the mighty Brahmaputra river. The Assamese celebrate three types of Bihus throughout the year - Bohaag Bihu, Kongaali Bihu and the Bhogaali Bihu.
The Bohaag Bihu (also known as the Rongaali Bihu) is the beginning of the Assamese calender during the middle of April thereby marks the advent of the Assamese New Year. The term Rongaali comes from the word 'Rong' which can be described as joy according to Assamese. This festival also coincides with the advent of the spring season in the state. Bihu Dance and Bihu Songs are the main features of this Bihu. Bohaag Bihu is celebrated over a period of several days. The first day of the Bihu is known as ‘Goru Bihu’ on which day the cows and bulls are given a ritual bath with ‘halodhi’, ‘maah’ with the accompanying song "Lao Kha, Bengena Kha, Bochore Bochore Badhi Ja".
The next day is the main Bihu Day on which people greet each other and pay their respect to the elders in the family by presenting with a new ‘Gamosa’ ( a traditional Assamese hand-woven cotton towel with red designs with a white background). Gamosa forms an integral part of the Bohaag Bihu celebrations as the male danseuse wears them on the head as well as on the body. The tradition of presenting a Gamosa is also practised while welcoming any guest during anytime of the year.

Another item which forms an integral part of the Bihu celebrations and is also symbolic of Assamese Culture is the Japi – a traditional Bamboo hat with colorful designs. A more simple bamboo Japi is normally worn by the farmer while cultivating in the field protecting oneself from the sun and rain.
The Rongaali Bihu is in three days. AddiQtd wishes all the Assamese friends a very Happy Bihu!

7th April - rise of the Vicious Myth!
It is believed that in the year 30 B.C. the Roman troops crucified Jesus Christ on this day. However, Jesus has shown his power over death by rising from the ashes after being crucified and buried for 3 days. This has been the ray of hope for the Christians for over 25000 years. People who have witnessed those days claimed to have had touched Jesus, had food with Him for about 40 days. Historians believe this to the most interesting fact that inscriptions, almost undoubtedly prove presence of Christ after death.
But, few people do not believe in life after death and similarly consider the Reincarnation of Jesus to be just a story of religious hopes that grew over time. They think death to just be an end to their ego and physical entities. Though the believer's of God still trust the resurrection of Christ and they believe that if crucifixion can bring back their Almighty, then they can also have a start from the point of their death.
No one in today's world can fully prove the resurrection to be true or false, however man lives in hope and this is something which has been the eternal sunshine for almost every human heart. Long live Jesus.

Duplicate World Cup for India??
The Indian cricket players can't seem to put it down it but the World Cup 2011 trophy they have with them is actually just a replica as the original is still lying with the customs.
"The original is lying with the Customs," said a BCCI sources without elaborating.
When contacted Customs sources, however, said the Cup was with them for non-payment of duty of 35 per cent of the original value.
"We will release it after payment of 35 per cent customs duty after its valuation," they told PTI.
The Cup, meanwhile, has been in the forefront of the celebrations by the entire Indian nation with players even posing with it along with President Pratibha Patil at the Raj Bhavan yesterday.
The captain of the winning team, Mahendra Singh Dhoni has been photographed and caught on television cameras carrying the replica to the iconic Gateway of India opposite the team hotel yesterday.
Man of the Tournament, Yuvraj Singh, has been kissing the replica repeatedly in delight.

INDIA WINS THE WORLD CUP 2011
An extraordinary match between India and Sri Lanka at Mumbai. Starting off with poor run rate, Sri Lanka turned the face of the game during the last 5 overs when they scored more than 60 runs and gave India a tough target of 275 runs.
During the second innings, the fall of V. Sehwag and Sachin Tendulkar at the beginning increased pressure upon the players as well as the crowd. But, an awesome partnership by Virat Kohli and Gautam Gambhir made the country hopeful. Later, the Indian captain M.S. Dhoni stabilized the run rate with Gambhir followed by Yuvraj Singh.
Gambhir's wicket was painful as he was just 3 runs away from his Century! However, he still remains the hero for his remarkable innings that held India's score up.
Remarkable was the moment when the Indian captain hit the ball for a huge 6 and let India keep home the much awaited World Cup.
Sri Lanka: 274/6
INDIA: 277/4

32nd March - The April Fools Day!!
April Fools' Day is celebrated all around the world on the April 1 of every year. Sometimes referred to as All Fools' Day, April 1 is not a national holiday, but is widely recognized and celebrated as a day where everyone plays all kinds of jokes and foolishness. The day is marked by the commission of good humoured or funny jokes, hoaxes, and other practical jokes of varying sophistication on friends, family members, teachers, neighbors, work associates, etc.
In Chaucer's Canterbury Tales (1392), the "Nun's Priest's Tale" is set Syn March bigan thritty dayes and two. Modern scholars believe that there is a copying error in the extant manuscripts and that Chaucer actually wrote, Syn March was gon. Thus the passage originally meant 32 days after March, i.e. May 2, the anniversary of the engagement of King Richard II of England to Anne of Bohemia, which took place in 1381. However, readers apparently misunderstood this line to mean "32nd of March," i.e. 1st April. In Chaucer's tale, the vain cock Chauntecleer is tricked by a fox.
In 1509, a French poet referred to a poisson d’avril (April fool, literally "April fish"), a possible reference to the holiday. In 1539, Flemish poet Eduard de Dene wrote of a nobleman who sent his servants on foolish errands on the 1st of April. In 1686, John Aubrey referred to the holiday as "Fooles holy day", the first British reference. On 1st April, 1698, several people were tricked into going to the Tower of London to "see the Lions washed". The name "April Fools" echoes that of the Feast of Fools, a Medieval holiday held on the 28th December.
So friends, its PRANK TIME!! :D
