Robert Bunsen at 200!!

Today is the 200th birthday of the German chemist Robert Wilhelm Bunsen.
Bunsen, along with his laboratory assistant Peter Desaga, developed the Bunsen burner, a commonly used laboratory equipment used for heating.
Robert Bunsen was born on March 31, 1811 in Gottingen, Germany. In 1830 he received a Phd in chemistry at the University of Göttingen. After teaching at a number of universities in Germany, he went on to be professor at Heidelberg in 1852, a post he held till his death on August 16, 1899. Bunsen never married.
Among the many inventions credited to his name are the carbon-zinc electric cell, the filter pump, the ice calorimetre and the vapour calorimeter.

Paul Baran dies at 84...

Paul Baran, the person who brought the world together left the world on 26th March. Baran invented and developed the "packet switching" technology which speed up the internet and changed the face of the web.

Today we speak of high data transfers and data security with billions of websites opening simultaneously around the globe. Paul Baran has been the pioneer of the development of this technology and has been awarded for his excellence  - IEEE Alexander Graham Bell Medal,National Medal of Technology and Innovation, National Inventors Hall of Fame.

Paul Baran died in Palo Alto, California at the age of 84 due to complications from lung cancer. Upon his death James Thomson, the president of RAND stated that "Our world is a better place for the technologies Paul Baran invented and developed, and also because of his consistent concern with appropriate public policies for their use.". One of the fathers of the internet, Vinton Cerf, stated that "Paul wasn't afraid to go in directions counter to what everyone else thought was the right or only thing to do,"

Condom makes a Player or a Slut?!!

Some people think they look smart if they carry a condom on a date. Few surveys show that most of the girls think that guys carrying condoms are smart and prepared. While few girls think that he's a cool player; unlike the remaining percentage of girls who think such guys to be looking for only sex and trying to be cool.
To our amazement, when the same question has been asked to boys about girls who carry condoms or offer condoms -  most of the guys think 'she is smart and prepared'. Few narrow minded boys believe it to be a golden opportunity to fuck a girl who is 'looking for sex'. The remaining boys call such girls - slut!

So you know, many people still belong to the old stereotypes, being busy in judging what a person looks like while carrying a condom. However, it is much more important to stay safe and play safe than being scrutinized upon carrying condoms.

So friends, saying "it just happened" and feeling romantic is not the way to keep sex healthy. Think and talk about condoms even before sleeping with your partner! It doesn't actually matter if you look like a player or a slut; being wise and using precaution is what matters. Fuck the rest!

The USB Story!!

We cannot think of life without data, and when it comes to data, we cannot ignore USB devices like pen drives, memory devices or external plug n play devices like game controllers or printers. Even cellphones come with USB connectivity. Many of us know that Ajay Bhatt invented the Universal Serial Bus (USB) while working in Intel. But here is some more fun fact about the invention of USB.

It began development in 1994 by a group of seven companies: Compaq, DEC, IBM, Intel, Microsoft,NEC and Nortel. it was intended to make it fundamentally easier to connect external devices to PCs by replacing the multitude of connectors at the back of PCs, addressing the usability issues of existing interfaces, and simplifying software configuration of all devices connected to USB, as well as permitting greater bandwidths for external devices. The first silicon for USB was made by Intel in 1995.
The USB 1.0 specification was introduced in January 1996. The original USB 1.0 specification had a data transfer rate of 1.5 Mbit/s. The first widely used version of USB was 1.1, which was released in September 1998. It allowed for a 12 Mbit/s data rate for higher-speed devices such as disk drives, and a lower 1.5 Mbit/s rate for low bandwidth devices such as joysticks.
The USB 2.0 specification was released in April 2000 and was standardized by the USB-IF at the end of 2001. Hewlett-Packard, Intel, Lucent Technologies (now Alcatel-Lucent), NEC and Philips jointly led the initiative to develop a higher data transfer rate, with the resulting specification achieving 480 Mbit/s, a fortyfold increase over 12 Mbit/s for the original USB 1.1.
The USB 3.0 Specification was published in 12 November 2008. Its main goals were to increase data transfer rate (up to 5Gbps), decrease power consumption, increase power output and be backwards compatible with USB 2.0. USB 3.0 includes a new, higher speed bus called SuperSpeed in parallel with the USB 2.0 bus. For this reason, the new version is also called SuperSpeed. The first USB 3.0 equipped devices were presented in January 2010.
USB implements connections to storage devices using a set of standards called the USB mass storage device class (referred to as MSC or UMS). This was initially intended for traditional magnetic and optical drives, but has been extended to support a wide variety of devices, particularly flash drives.
Sleep-and-charge USB ports can be used to charge electronic devices even when the computer is switched off. Normally when a computer is powered off the USB ports are powered down. This prevents phones and other devices from being able to charge unless the computer is powered on. Sleep-and-charge USB ports remain powered even when the computer is off. On laptops charging devices from the USB port when it is not being powered from AC will drain the laptop battery faster. Desktop machines need to remain plugged into AC power for Sleep-and-charge to work.

NOW WHAT?

"He was cute. We were in a party. I enjoyed his company and loved the way he held me with his hand around my waist! It was getting hot and you know, the way it happens...the warm kiss and he touching me; the alcohol - all were kind of euphoric mixed with my desires fallen into him. We had it! The next morning was not good. I felt cheap about myself & I realized I have lost a good friend." - Anonymous (original name not revealed).

One of the biggest reasons of having sex regrets is they just weren't emotionally ready or responsible enough to handle the consequences. They often caved to pressure from others.

Whatever is the case, our question is: NOW WHAT? Now that you have had sex with a guy without protection but neither of you are ready to take up responsibilities, what should you do?

Its better to go for test of pregnancy as soon as possible. Convenient pregnancy test equipments are available in the pharmacy these days. You may think of taking an 'i Pill' within 72 hours of having intercourse, but its preferable not to have any such medicine because these medicines ruin your mental and physical health for the time being. The most effective way is to wait for an early symptom of pregnancy - vomiting, nausea, stop of menstrual cycle (periods), etc. If any such symptom is noticed, straightaway go to a doctor/ gynecologist. Most clinics are completely confidential, meaning your parents don’t need to give permission for you to go and they won’t be contacted by the clinic. Even if your parents called the clinic and asked if you had received services, the clinic cannot give out that information. Since each clinic works a little differently, the best way to know for sure is to ask the clinic when you make your appointment.

If you are facing any such problem, write to us privately at: digisys7@gmail.com. Let AddiQtd help you!

Getting over a negative Boyfriend!

It is difficult to end a relationship, but dealing with the ramifications of a 'BAD BOYFRIEND' can leave you feeling lost. Changing the air around you is the best way to get rid of negativity. Mixing yourself with positive people, indulging your mind into something creative or into any field of interest other than relationships (temporarily) can be successful trials to overcoming such depression.
Getting caught up in sadness due to break up & feeling pity upon the broken pieces of your self-esteem is very easy, but thinking yourself to be in a better place by preventing someone's negativity to ruin your life, is a positive attitude towards a healthy mind.

Here are few ways to get over your negative relationship:

1. Cut off contact with the negative boyfriend. This means a NO to phone calls, sms or any modes of communication with the concerned person.

2. Talk to a professional therapist if you are having difficulty getting over your ex-boyfriend. Therapist can help you put things in perspective and work on regaining your self-esteem.

3. Take on activities that you enjoy and that get you out of your confined cage.

4. Set a time limit for your grief over the relationship. This can be anywhere from two days to one month, but make sure that at the end of that time you make an effort to let go of the past, learn your lessons and move forward with your life. Begin dating other people at this time if you feel ready.

If you are still thinking to get back to his life and let him ruin your life just because you love him (and he doesn't even deserve to be loved by you) then you are the biggest loser!! This is unconventional to write it over here but this is a fact.
Move on in life because life is full of surprises! You never know, your best buddy who is with you during this time of difficulty can be the one for you!
And if he tries to stop you in abusive or unpleasant ways then just report it to the police rather than going into street fights involving your friends.

Magic turns 137 Years Old

Harry Houdini was a Hungarian-born American magician and escapologist, stunt performer, actor and film producer noted for his sensational escape acts. He was also a skeptic who set out to expose frauds purporting to be supernatural phenomena.
Harry Houdini was born as Erik Weisz (he later spelled his birth name as Ehrich Weiss) in Budapest, Hungary, on March 24, 1874. From 1907 on, however, Houdini would claim in interviews to have been born in Appleton, Wisconsin, on April 6, 1874.
At the outset, Houdini's magic career resulted in little success. He performed in dime museums and sideshows, and even doubled as "The Wild Man" at a circus. Houdini focused initially on traditional card tricks. At one point, he billed himself as the "King of Cards". But he soon began experimenting with escape acts. Houdini's "big break" came in 1899 when he met manager Martin Beck in rural Woodstock, Illinois. Impressed by Houdini's handcuffs act, Beck advised him to concentrate on escape acts and booked him on the Orpheum vaudeville circuit. Within months, he was performing at the top vaudeville houses in the country.
Houdini became widely known as "The Handcuff King." From 1907 and throughout the 1910s, Houdini performed with great success in the United States. He would free himself from jails, handcuffs, chains, ropes, and straitjackets, often while hanging from a rope in plain sight of street audiences. In 1912, Houdini introduced perhaps his most famous act, the Chinese Water Torture Cell, in which he was suspended upside-down in a locked glass-and-steel cabinet full to overflowing with water. The act required that Houdini hold his breath for more than three minutes. Houdini performed the escape for the rest of his career. Despite two Hollywood movies depicting Houdini dying in the Torture Cell, the escape had nothing to do with his demise. Houdini explained some of his tricks in books written for the magic brotherhood throughout his career.
For many years, he was the highest-paid performer in American vaudeville. One of Houdini's most notable non-escape stage illusions was performed at New York's Hippodrome Theater when he vanished a full-grown elephant (with its trainer) from a stage, beneath which was a swimming pool. In 1923, Houdini became president of Martinka & Co., America's oldest magic company. The business is still in operation today. He also served as President of the Society of American Magicians (aka S.A.M.) from 1917 until his death in 1926. In the final years of his life (1925/26), Houdini launched his own full-evening show, which he billed as "3 Shows in One: Magic, Escapes, and Fraud Mediums Exposed".

AddiQtd wishes Harry Houdini a very Happy 137th Birthday! May his soul rest in peace.

Colors at Shantiniketan

Shantiniketan, the birth place of Rabindranath Tagore has been a magnet to millions especially during Holi. We have heard about the famous Basant Utsav at Shantiniketan right from our childhoods. This time was a real opportunity to have experienced the wonderful event.
How would you feel, when a complete stranger comes up to you and fills your face with color (aabir / gulaal)?
This has been the most wonderful thing that I personally have even experienced.
Girls in yellow sarees with flowers (Palash Phool) around their necks; boys in yellow or white kurta-pajamas - dancing down the streets on Tagore songs. Strangers, including children, coming up to color you, folk singers singing the famous compositions of Lalon Fakir and dance performances of Tagore songs in every corner of the Amro-Kunj (the mango garden).
While capturing few moments, my viewfinder caught few foreign tourists playing with the colors. Later they expressed their enthusiasm and excitement regarding holi at 'Shantiniketan'.

As a whole, the colorful and cultural atmosphere is worth visiting over and over again.

Another awesome place was the market place at Shona-Jhuri (Shantiniketan) where the crowd was busy purchasing handmade goods reflecting the traditional art form of Dokras (better known as Dokra-Shilpo).

The opening of the Basant Utsav with Rabindranath Tagore's "Grihobashi Laglo Je Dol" which continued for 45minutes without a stop was remarkable. The students of the university who participate every year, are flawless in their performances, whether it be music or dance. Here is also a snap of the main stage where the event takes place.

More sex for Women!!

Women have a difficulty being completely honest about the type of guys they’re attracted to. This is mainly because they don’t want to appear to be slutty. However, if they were honest, most would say that they like “a sexual man who will create an opportunity for sex, and persist past any tests that I throw at him”. Understand: Women are VERY sexual, and like sex more than guys! That is something that a lot of guys don’t understand. It makes understanding the psychology of attraction truly difficult for them.
When it comes to escalating sexually, you have to take the lead. This has been decided long ago on a biological level. Women are more submissive, so you need to have the balls to be dominant, and lead the interaction. One reason for this is because the woman does NOT want to look like a slut. Initiating sex would make her look like one, so that’s the furthest thing from what she wants to do. The last thing she wants is to be perceived negatively by her friends.Though women are slightly less eloquent than men when describing their sexual wishes and preferences, they have the same basic needs.
Ladies, don't be offended but these are biologically proven facts!

Cosmo Rays Entering Earth - All FAKE!!

A message has been circulating for quiet some time saying Cosmo rays from Mars are likely to enter the earth. THIS IS FAKE!!
NASA or BBC News do not have any such information and logically - Cosmo rays can only be emitted from bodies having their own light, i.e., a star can emit Cosmo rays. Mars is a planet and we all are aware of this basic fact that it cannot have its own light!
This sms is a rumour and had spread even more after the earthquake in Japan.

So friends, do not worry. We are still protected!

Japan death toll to exceed 10000

A massive tsunami sweeps in to engulf a residential area after a powerful earthquake in Natori, (REUTERS/KYODO)
A massive 8.9-magnitude quake hit northeast Japan on Friday (March 11,2011), causing thousands of deaths, more than 80 fires, and a 10-meter (33-ft) tsunami along parts of the country's coastline. Homes were swept away and damage is extensive.

The present scenario:

The government has warned of a possible explosion at a second reactor building at the earthquake-damaged Fukushima 1 power station. But it says the reactor, which contains plutonium as well as uranium, should be protected by its metal casing.

More than 200,000 people are being evacuated from the area around Fukushima 1 and its sister plant, Fukushima 2 (both are in Fukushima prefecture).

At least 1,300 people are thought to have died, but police have warned that the death toll in tsunami-hit Miyagi prefecture alone could exceed 10,000.

Nationwide, more than 300,000 people have been evacuated.

Three US warships are off the coast to help in the Japanese government's huge relief effort.

Shades of Imagination!

Pen or pencil is not always necessary while creating any particular image…by using only color or any two color that can be pastel, crayon, sketch pen, poster or any other media can be of great use for building up of a masterpiece by different strokes and patterns n by mixing them somewhere or using them singly in any part of the image. It is not always necessary that we need to use all 24 shades of a pastel color or 12 shades of a poster color. Any one or two color can be chosen to create an image. Like I have used only black pastel for creating the following diagram…..
On the other hand beautiful effect of watercolor can be easily blended. Sometimes we find certain images which consist of buildings that sometimes has a rocky or grassy background; while using watercolor in such cases the stone & brick wall blend pretty well with the natural surroundings & the result is almost like a natural landscape.

Goodbye Lullaby - "non-original album"

Avril Lavigne's new music album "Goodbye Lullaby" was released last week on 2nd March, 2011 through Sony Music.
The album was originally scheduled for release on 17 November 2009. Later, in January 2010, Lavigne stated that the album cover had been photographed and the first single would be released in April followed by the album in June. In May, Lavigne said that she considered the album too serious and "mellow" and would return to the studio to balance the album out, "With an album, I don't want to rush it out.... I have a very serious record, so I think I need to put a couple upbeat, fun songs on it.

Music critics have noticed similar musical arrangements in every song and have called it "non original and basic" album. Few critics believe Avril has desperately struggled to show her artistic inside in the album. Every song on the album was written by Avril Lavigne, with half of the album being written with co-writers.

I always had material, but some people that I worked with didn’t really care, because they wanted to write the stuff.
—Avril Lavigne, Entertainment Weekly

Avril, who has been a successful ruler over the charts at the age of 17 with her debut album "Let Go", is positive about her new album.

I know my fans look up to me and that's why I make my songs so personal; it's all about things I've experienced and things I like or hate. I write for myself and hope that my fans like what I have to say.

Women's Day - shameful for Delhi!!

Originally called International Working Women’s Day is marked on March 8 every year. This day commemorates the murder of 129 women who were set on fire inside a textile factory in New York in 1908. They were standing for their labor rights. The owners of the factory rejected their petitions and locked them inside the factory which was then set on fire.

"She gave you birth,
She gives you love
She teaches you to smile
To reach that extra mile
Its the woman behind everyone"

AddiQtd wishes you a Happy Women's Day!!

However, when the whole world was celebrating Women’s Day, the national capital (New Delhi)  reported a cold-blooded murder of a female student in broad daylight.

A 22-year-old student, Radhika Tanwar, was shot near her college in south Delhi. She was a Bachelors of Arts student in Ramlal Anand College.
Tanwar was attacked by an unidentified man while walking on a pedestrian bridge near her college. She was with two friends.
Police haven’t got any substantial clue about the killer.
According to police records, “A man came from behind and opened fire at her. A bullet hit her stomach. The attacker managed to flee the scene soon after the incident.”
A large number of students of Delhi University protested the lack of security and staged a roadblock. Some locals also joined the protest.
The incident evoked strong reactions from MPs, including RJD leader Lalu Prasad, Girija Vyas and Brinda Karat, who condemned the incident.

Huh!! LET IT BE!!

Every next moment of our lives is a new challenge. There's no doubt that accepting challenges is a good habit, but at times we do feel pissed off with few things which occur around us.

Here's a stupid, yet fun way to ignore things which turn you down...

The slogan is - "LET IT BE!! :)"

"My boyfriend dumped me" - LET IT BE!!

"My girl ran away with my friend" - LET IT BE!!

"My driver fled with my wife" - LET IT BE!!

"My baby ran away from the hospital right after birth" - LET IT BE!!

"I locked my car with keys inside" - LET IT BE!!

"The police hit my as*, I'm unable to poop" - LET IT BE!

:D

Friends, now it your turn to LET IT BE!! :)

And for the guys who have taken this very seriously, listen to Limp Bizkit's "Hot Dog"! HAHA!!

5 SIGNS YOU SHOULD WAIT

If your decision regarding becoming sexually active centers around one of these fears, you should wait!

1. Fear of losing him

2. Fear of appearing immature or babyish

3. Fear of being viewed as a prude

4. Fear of being seen as inexperienced

5. Fear of what other people will think

It has been noticed that the above mentioned are mostly the causes of teenagers to get involved into sexual activities without 100% mental consent. Few readers wrote to us questioning about if editors of AddiQtd are against sex! Well, AddiQtd is a blog for open minded people, and we just aim at sorting out confusions and nothing else (as far as sex is concerned). The rest is upto you friends. Its totally your discretion to be sexually active, but with a proper reason and with a clear idea of the possible consequences.
If  you and your partner are mentally ready to go to the next level, do it with love. Make love! ;)

Can you handle responsibilities?

With sex comes responsibility — whether you like it or not.

Would you know where to go for an HIV or pregnancy test? Have you and your partner discussed having sex? (Talk it over when you're both calm — and clothed!) Do you feel comfortable seeking advice from your parents or another adult? Will your reputation be affected? Will you regret your decision? What are the motivating factors behind your wanting to have sex?

Think over this guys. Then we would come up with shocking SEX REGRETS, by real people!!

One more important thing (we have already discussed in AddiQtd) - spend some money to buy condoms rather risking your partner chemically by dozing pills.

Perspective!!

While creating a particular picture specially landscapes, few things should be kept in mind to make the work more creative, perfect and add an extra beauty. Working on landscapes teaches us a lot of things which improves the work make it even better. Some points such as

1.  GROUND LINE---   after creating the horizon line one must keep in mind about the ground line which is the main basic element in a composition. Based on these two points it is better to draw the main element after deciding its relation with the line of vision.

2.  STATION POINT---- this is another vital part of art or we can say rather it is a very necessary element in an artist’s life. The concept of station point is nothing but a certain fixed point or an assumption which is mostly needed when drawing from memory. The station point has to be kept in mind to fix the relative distances of various objects from an observer.

3.  VANISHING POINT-----while observing from a particular view all the lines parallel to the ground if they are extended further they meet at a point, relatively known as vanishing point. Considering a railway track or a road when observing from one end they seem to meet at infinity which is beyond our vision which we name as vanishing point. This concept helps us to be more perfect about our aim of the picture and the vision. All parallel lines in a given scene have the same vanishing point.
